Reading (White shoes)

In reading this week we did reading choice board. This was cool and exhausting at the same time. It was also interesting so maybe I'll start off with the interesting part. So, I was reading "White Shoes". I was reading from the beginning and it said, "The city's going to kill you," says Mum. "I'm sending you to live with your grandma." It's for your own good. Just like that. "Goodbye, son, see ya round." These sentences made me want to read the rest of the story.

Then when he got on the bus he said, "Now I'm on a trip to nowhere." But there was kind of a twist. As he arrived, the people were talking in Maori, it's like they didn't want to speak English at all, even though they could. So he got used to the Maori language but he worked all day and woke up at night, as his white shoes were fading. Months later he got, lean and strong, then he said, "It's like I'm in Aotearoa and my old home is New Zealand." You gotta admit it was interesting. I enjoyed reading this book because the boy didn't like working, talking in Maori, and other things, but when he got sent to his grandmas house he got used to it and started to like and felt proud of his culture and that's what I found interesting. Oh and the exhausting part is when I had to answer group question, It was hard because I had to go back and read carefully for the answers. Well, that's that, Blog you later, bloggers!
